Baséase no libro homónimo de 1942 de Alexander P. de Seversky. O propio De Seversky aparece no filme, algo infrecuente nas longametraxes de animación de Disney da época.[1]

Edward H. Plumb, Paul J. Smith e Oliver Wallace foron nomeado ó Óscar á mellor banda sonora dun filme dramático ou de comedia na 16ª edición dos premios.
