The Smiths foi un grupo inglés de rock alternativo activo entre 1982 e 1987. Foi formado en Manchester por Morrissey e Johnny Marr, gravaron co selo independente Rough Trade Records. A súa música foi de grande influencia na música indie. Moi populares no Reino Unido viviron unha revitalización no resto de Europa nos anos 90.
Entre as súas principais obras destácanse as cancións "The Boy With The Thorn In His Side", "How Soon Is Now", "This Charming Man", "Ask", "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now", "Bigmouth Strikes Again" e "Panic".
