Shirley Schrift, nada en St. Louis (Missouri) o 18 de agosto de 1920 e finada en Beverly Hills (California) o 14 de xaneiro de 2006, foi unha actriz de cinema, teatro e televisión estadounidense.
Traxectoria
[editar | editar a fonte]Nada nunha familia xudía, filla dunha cantante e un deseñador de roupa, os seus pais mudáronse a Nova York cando Winters tiña tres anos. Estudou interpretación en Hollywood, onde compartiu piso a finais dos anos corenta con outra aspirante a actriz, Marilyn Monroe.
Comezou no cinema en 1943, conseguindo a súa primeira candidatura ao oscar en 1951, con A Place in the Sun. Chegaría a conseguir o premio dúas veces, como mellor actriz secundaria, por The Diary of Anne Frank e A Patch of Blue. O primeiro deles doouno á Casa de Anne Frank, en Ámsterdan.
Nos seus últimos anos tivo un papel recorrente na serie de televisión Roseanne.
Finou dun fallo cardíaco en 2006. O seu exmarido Anthony Franciosa sufriu un infarto ese mesmo día e finou cinco días despois.
