AFI ou A Fire Inside é unha banda estadounidense de punk rock con tendencia ao rock gótico formada en Ukiah, California no ano 1991.

Fundárona en 1991 Davey Havok (voz), Markus Stopholese (guitarra), Vic Chalker (baixo) e Adam Carson (batería) en Ukiah, California. O baixista Vic Chalker foi reemprazado por Geoff Kresge, e este posteriormente por Hunter Burgan.
Os compoñentes da banda coñecéronse no instituto, mesmo chegando a formar un grupo xuntos, separáronse para estudar en diferentes universidades ata que en 1991 voltan a xuntarse de forma definitiva para dedicarse profesionalmente á música e, tras editar algúns EPs, en 1995 publicaron o seu primeiro álbum Answer That and Stay Fashionable.
