Melvyn Edouard Hesselberg, nado en Macon, Xeorxia o 5 de abril de 1901 e finado en Nova York o 4 de agosto de 1981, foi un actor estadounidense.
Traxectoria
[editar | editar a fonte]Nado nunha familia de orixe xudía por parte de pai (aínda que segundo a súa autobiografía non o soubo ata a súa adolescencia), nunca acabou o instituto.
Comezou a súa carreira interpretativa na súa mocidade, ata chegar a debutar en Broadway en 1930 e no cinema no ano seguinte.
Tras a segunda guerra mundial comezou a facer papeis máis maduros, e nos anos cincuenta triunfou na televisión, coa serie Steve Randall e brevemente coma presentador de Blind Date.
Gañou en dúas ocasións o Oscar ó mellor actor secundario, en 1963 por Hud e en 1979 por Being There.
Finou de pneumonía en 1981.
