The Prettiots é unha banda de mulleres de rock alternativo procedente de Brooklyn, Nova York. O grupo está composto no presente por Kay Kasperhauser e Lulu Landolfi. Rachel Trachtenburg foi a súa batería brevemente.[1][2] Tras realizar cinco concertos no festival SXSW en 2015, a banda foi loubada polos críticos da NPR Bob Boilen e Robin Hilton e fichou por Rough Trade Records.[3][4][5]
O seu primeiro álbum, Funs Cool, foi publicado en 2016 con recensións positivas dos críticos, que eloxiaron a contundente honestidade das súas letras, o prominente uso do ukelele na súa música, e a súa inventiva na reinterpretación doutras cancións (The Misfits, Dolly Parton).[6][7] Varios críticos destacaron que The Prettiots subverten os tropos e expectativas "cursis" que acompañan a unha banda independente de mulleres con ukelele.[8][9]
O sinxelo "Suicide Hotline" foi especialmente eloxiado polo seu huumor sardónico e a súa honesta discusión sobre a saúde mental. Katie Presley de NPR escribiu que a canción "presenta asombrosas ideas entre harmonías doces e divertidas e rasgueos de ukelele xoguetóns".[10]
