Orientations of Proteins in Membranes (OPM) database (base de datos Orientacións de Proteínas en Membranas) é unha base de datos que proporciona as posicións espaciais das estruturas das proteínas de membrana na bicapa lipídica.[1][2][3][4] As posicións da proteína calcúlanse usando un modelo de solvatación implícita da bicapa lipídica.[5][6] Os resultados dos cálculos foron verificados comparándoos con estudos experimentais da disposición espacial das proteínas transmembrana e periféricas de membrana.[4][7][8][9][10][11][12]

As estruturas das proteínas tómanse de Protein Data Bank. OPM tamén proporciona unha clasificación estrutural de proteínas asociadas a membranas en familias e superfamilias, e a topoloxía na membrana, a estruturas cuaternarias de proteínas no seu estado unido á membrana, e o tipo de membrana de destino para cada proteína. Poden descargarse os ficheiros coordinados cos límites de membrana calculados. O sitio permite a visualización de estruturas proteicas con límites de membrana planos por medio de Jmol, MDL Chime, WebMol e Discovery Studio.

Esta base de datos foi amplamente utilizada en estudos experimentais e teóricos de proteínas asociadas á membrana.[13][14][15][16][17] Porén, as estruturas de moitas proteínas asociadas a membrana non están incluídas na base e datos se non se poden predicir computacionalmente. Este é o caso cando todas as partes ancoradas na membrana das proteínas (hélices alfa anfifílicas, residuos non polares expostos, ou residuos de aminoácidos lipidados) se perden nas estruturas experimentais.[4]
