English: The museum is located at Wat Khanon in Photharam district. The museum features 313 large-sized puppets and traditional crafting tools which were all made by “Pra Kru Satthasunthorn”, the temple abbot and “Kru Aung”, the artisan master in 1848 – 1942. The first puppet set was the Hanuman offering ring.
Under the royal initiation of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn who values traditional Thai performance, including the shadow puppet which is regarded as a most sophisticated form of entertainment. She has the initiative to help preserve a measure of Nang Yai and gave some fund to remake it instead of the old ones by “Suchart Subsin” the artisan from Nakornratchasima.
UNESCO recognized the temple as one of the world’s six communities that best promoted the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH).
