Independentismo taiwanés
O independentismo taiwanés é un movemento político que busca o recoñecemento internacional formal de Taiwán como un estado soberano independente e en oposición á unificación chinesa. Moitos dos seus defensores teñen como obxectivo a "independencia" da República da China (non confundir coa República Popular da China) e a formación da "República de Taiwán".
No presente, o ststus político de Taiwán é ambiguo. No presente, a China afirma que é unha provincia da República Popular Chinesa. Taiwán e outras illas están actualmente baixo o control da República da China (Taiwán]), un país que mantén relacións diplomáticas oficiais con 15 países recoñecidos polas Nacións Unidas e que son recoñecidos por eles.[1] A actual administración de Tsai Ing-wen da República da China sostén que Taiwán xa é un país independente como a República da China e, polo tanto, non ten que impulsar ningún tipo de independencia formal.[2]
