English: Siegen/Germany – historical monument "A-033"; in the old town (upper town) of Siegen, located at Untere Metzgerstraße 37. Wrong "birthplace" of Peter Paul Rubens. An inscription at the third floor of the house jokingly claims that "by hearsay" Peter Paul Rubens had been born here. The Brambach house however that Johann Rubens had rented in Siegen for himself and his family had been in Burgstr. 10 and was completely destroyed during the last weeks of WW II in 1945. Cf. Deutsch: Baudenkmal A-033 der Stadt Siegen in der Altstadt/Oberstadt, Anschrift: Untere Metzgerstraße 37. Falsches „Geburtshaus“ von Peter Paul Rubens Scherzhafte mundartliche Inschrift zwischen dem 1. und dem 2. Obergeschoss: „He en däm Huss es Peter Paul Rubens vam Hearnsä am 28. Juni 1577 ob de Welt komme“ („Hier in dem Haus ist Peter Paul Rubens vom Hörensagen [her] am 28. Juni 1577 auf die Welt [ge]kommen[.]“) Das Brambachische Haus, das Johann Rubens 1573–1578 für sich angemietet hatte, befand sich in der Burgstraße 10.
