Traxectoria

Os seus pais, Maurice Barrymore e Georgiana Drew eran actores, igual cós seus irmáns, John e Lionel. Debutou en Broadway en 1895 e dous anos despois en Londres, logrando un grande éxito.

En 1919 foi unha das caras máis visibles da folga de actores organizada pola Actors' Equity Association.

A súa carreira no cinema comezou en 1914. Na década de 1940 marchou a Hollywood e chegou a gañar o Oscar á mellor actriz secundaria en 1944 por None but the Lonely Heart, con Cary Grant.

Considerada unha das mellores actrices da súa xeración, finou na súa casa de Hollywood en 1959.
