Margaret Natalie Smith, nada en Ilford, Essex o 28 de decembro de 1934, é unha actriz de cinema, teatro e televisión británica.
Traxectoria
Comezou a súa carreira teatral na universidade, debutando no cinema a finais dos anos cincuenta. En 1960 conseguiu a súa primeira candidatura ao oscar por interpretar a Desdémona en Othello, dirixida por Laurence Olivier.
Gañou o oscar á mellor actriz en 1969 por The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie, gañando tamén o de mellor actriz de reparto por California Suite nove anos despois.
Nas seguintes décadas continuou alternando traballos no teatro e no cinema, con filmes como A Room with a View, Gosford Park ou a serie de películas de Harry Potter.
En 2010 comezou a súa intervención na serie de televisión Downton Abbey.
