Henry Maximilian Beerbohm, nado o 24 de agosto de 1872 e finado o 20 de maio de 1956, foi un caricaturista e escritor inglés.

Traxectoria[editar | editar a fonte]

Naceu en Londres, o medio irmán máis novo do actor e produtor Herbert Beerbohm Tree, educouse en Charterhouse School e na Universidade de Oxford, onde foi secretario do Myrmidon Club. En Oxford formou parte do grupo de Oscar Wilde.

O seu primeiro escrito, Defence of Cosmetics publicouse na revista literaria Yellow Book. Colaborou como crítico literario do Saturday Review desde 1898 ata 1910. O seu primeiro libro, The Works of Max Beerbohm publicouse en 1896. A súa primeira colección de caricaturas tamén data de 1896 Caricatures of Twenty-five Gentlemen. En 1897 escribiu a fábula The Happy Hypocrite e Zuleika Dobson, a súa única novela, data de 1911. O seu anecdotario Seven Men (1919) considérase unha obra mestra do xénero . A partir de 1935 apareceu ocasionalmente na radio.
