Emilio Estevez é o fillo do actor de orixe galega Martin Sheen (nado como Ramón Estévez) e a artista irlandesa Janet Templeton. Os seus irmáns son Ramon Estevez, Charlie Sheen (nado como Carlos Estevez), Natasha Prasaud Estevez e Renée Estevez.
