Traxectoria [editar]
Emigrou ós Estados Unidos na década de 1950, comezando no escenario e gañando dous premios Drama Desk en 1957. Acadou certa prominencia na década dos anos sesenta, protagonizando filmes nos que interpretaba personaxes maiores que a súa idade real, como Mr. Dawes en Mary Popppins.
Interpretou a Joe Fenwick nun episodio de 1972 de Colombo titulado "Daga da Mente".
Interpretou tamén a un ancián da aldea en Young Frankenstein de Mel Brooks en 1974 e a Tootles en Hook no 1991. Tamén fixo aparicións na televisión nas que destaca The Alfred Hitchcock Hour "O segredo de McGregor" (23 de novembro de 1964,data de emisión orixinal).
